Note #43: Promethean Candle Boutique (2009.4.27)

I realize it’s been more than a week since my last posting, but I decided that I didn’t want to post just for the sake of it. In fact, I did write a note on Friday, but I elected not to upload it. It was more of a therapeutic exercise, and after sleeping on it I decided it had served its purpose.

Instead, I’d like to direct your attention to a new addition to the internet: Promethean Candle Boutique. It is the brand new home of my brother Brian’s new business. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I would have plugged the site anyway, what with Brian being my brother and all, but I can honestly say that I am truly impressed with what he’s done with the site. He spent a lot of time and energy learning how to code a website, and when he first showed me what he had I was amazed that he had managed to achieve something so professional-looking in such a short period of time.

The website is merely the storefront, though. If you have any interest in candles whatsoever, you’ll want to take a look at some of the candles he and his business partner have created. Some of the inclusion candles are really quite extraordinary, and the wax painted candles feature some lovely artwork. Those happen to be my two favorite types, but some of the other kinds of candles are quite nice, too.

Oh, and I am proud to say that I played a small part in the creation of the website (aside from bugging Brian about various minor issues): I wrote the “Story of Prometheus” text on the “about us” page.

I don’t usually plug other sites like this on Liminality, but I truly believe that Brian is on to something here, and the candles they are producing are quite special. Hyunjin and I are planning on buying a bunch of candles this summer when we visit to bring back to Korea as gifts.

Thanks for bearing with me. Liminality will return to your regularly-scheduled programming next time.
