Arthropods

When I first saw these bugs buzzing around I did my best Keanu Reeves impression: “Woah” (more of a “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” woah than a “Matrix” woah). I snapped a bunch of shots when they landed on the daylilies, and I love how the orange, yellow, and green reflect on the big bug’s eyes in this shot.

I must admit, though, I do not know what they are doing. My first thought was that they were mating, but I really have no idea how bugs mate, and when I looked at the picture at full size on my monitor (which I could only do for about five seconds before getting a severe case of the heebie jeebies), my first thought was that the big bug was sucking out the little bug’s brains. Which is cooler: insect mating or zombie bugs? I’ll take zombie bugs any day.
