This was dessert: chocolate cream pie. Thankfully we had only ordered one slice to split between the two of us, because this thing was just ridiculous. Delicious, but it’s the sort of thing I might allow myself to have maybe three or four times a year, tops. Funny how when you’re a kid you always tell yourself you’re going to eat whatever you want when you grow up—and then you grow up and realize that you can’t actually eat whatever you want after all. Well, you can, I guess, if you’re willing to deal with the consequences. I suppose a splurge every now and then isn’t so bad, though.
