Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon

Those three tiny squares in the right rear of the photo are the targets, and they are 145 meters away (that’s over twice Olympic distance, by the way—Olympians shoot at targets 70 meters distant). The targets (which are just wooden boards) are rigged with microphones and speakers so that each hit is met with a loud, satisfying thock. This man was the most skilled of the four archers—I would say he hit his target at least two-thirds of the time.
