Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon
This large artificial pond and island sit beneath Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion, where aristocrats and nobles in the old day would go to drink and compose poetry. Judging by some of the graffiti carved onto the wooden railings, at least one of those traditions is carried on here today—I’ll let you guess which one.
