Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon
These are the bongdon, or the beacons. This photo was taken inside the beacon enclosure, to I could only fit three in the shot, but there are actually five. One beacon was lit during peace time, two were lit when an enemy was in sight, three when the enemy approached the walls, four when the enemy attacked, and five when the defenses had been breached.
