Thailand, Part 2: Ko Phi Phi

The island of Ko Phi Phi was the second stop on our Thailand trip, and we ended up spending three days there (we had originally only planned two).

After stepping off the boat on that first day, carrying our heavy packs and exhausted from being stranded at sea for two hours when the ferry broke down, we were a bit bewildered. The maze of dirt paths seemed impossible to navigate, and the accommodations we had our eyes on turned out to be astronomically more expensive then we had read.

We soon found a nice guest house, though, and were able to put down our heavy packs. With our loads lightened we walked down to the beach and quickly began to enjoy the beauty of the island. Yes, there are a lot of people there—it’s certainly no isolated resort—but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. Sea kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, or just lying on the beach... the three days we spent there flew by all too quickly.
