I’m tempted to put this with my collection of arthropods, but I think it’s safe to say that the so-called “theme” galleries are a thing of the past, and everything from here on out will most likely be an “event” gallery. (In fact, I think I might even do away with the distinction eventually.) Anyway, it’s an interesting beetle I found out on the deck; no doubt the huge dark spots are designed to mimic eyes and scare off predators.
