The conference began in the afternoon on the following day, but in the morning I went on a tour with some other attendees to the Everglades. This photo might not be immediately clear, but it is a shot of the fan and the cage surrounding it on one of the airboats we rode.
I learned quite about the Everglades thanks to our guide and the Native American guides who took us out on the airboats, but the most interesting thing—to me, at any rate—was that the Everglades are not a swamp or marsh. They are, in fact, a very slow-moving river.
