Miami, 2016

Remember that bridge over the Miami River? If you look the other way, you can see this statue of an archer on a pillar, called “The Pillar of History.” It’s a bit hard to see in this photo, but the pillar is decorated with bas-relief carvings that record the history of the Tequesta Indians, a Native American tribe that lived in the area (the nearby Miami Circle is a Tequesta archaelogical site). But, to be perfectly honest, I took this photo because I thought it looked like the archer was taking aim at the birds.
