Tokyo, 2006

After wandering around Shinjuku for a while we returned to the ryokan to divvy up our loot—the two red bean-stuffed pieces of bread from Kimuraya (lower left) and a custard-filled pastry from Bakery Nakamura in Shinjuku. Bakery Nakamura originated the custard-filled pastry in Japan, so we had to give it a try. All three were excellent, and disappeared shortly after this photo was taken.
