Our next and final stop in Tokyo was my friend Kazuko’s place. Her husband Koji is a very nice guy, and her daughter Natsumi is very cute but was quite tired for most of our visit.
You can see here how much food Kazuko prepared for dinner. She always did like to cook. It was all very good, and I ate a lot, partly to cushion the blow from all the beer and sake we drank.
It was the first time I had seen Kazuko in almost eleven years. The last time I had seen her was during my first visit to Tokyo in 1995 (all this is covered in my background story, if you’re interested), and the whole time we were in Tokyo I kept wondering what it would be like to see her again. I know I changed a lot during those eleven years, and I wondered how much she had changed. But when we finally got together again it was just like old times. It’s strange how so much time can pass and yet some things never change.
