We went back to the ryokan to relax after our long day. The rooms are very small, and this was as much of the room as I could fit in the picture without knocking down a wall (which probably wouldn’'t have been that difficult, but we’ll get to that later). You can see in the lower-left corner that the rooms are covered with tatami (straw mats), which is typical for a ryokan. Tatami has a very distinctive, grassy smell that takes a bit of getting used to.
