This next photo is a bit of a jump in time. Having missed both of our attempted ferry trips on Wando, we decided to head back up to Seoul and stop in Jeonju along the way. Pictured here is what is called a sotdae. It is a wooden bird (in this case, a duck) on a long wooden pole, and these were erected at the entrances of villages to represent the guardian deities. This particular sotdae is found in the traditional quarter of Jeonju.
